Summer is officially here, and it’s hard to find a suitable summer skincare routine for oily skin. I’m excited to share some ideas with you in this post.

So you’ve got oily skin, and you want to know how to care for it during the hot summer months. If you want to keep your face looking fresh, clean, and healthy all summer long with these tips, you can! The first thing to remember is that oily skin requires different treatment in the summer than in other seasons of the year.

In winter, you can get away with using heavier moisturizers that won’t cause excess shine or greasiness; but in summer, heavy products will only make your face look even more oily by trapping sweat inside your pores.

Skincare Tips In Summers For Oily Skin

1-Keep your routine simple with Gentle Cleanser

What is good for oily skin in summer? Too many products or a complicated routine can clog your pores and lead to acne. For best results, stick with a light gel-like moisturizer that contains SPF in the summer, and pick a gentle cleanser like Youth to the People kale cleanser.

I love how effective it is as a cleanser. It’s a great product! I feel so clean and my skin is so soft! The smell is also so fresh! I have been using this product for the last two weeks and it’s worth it. I have acne-prone and oily skin. It does a good job of deep cleansing, so make sure you wash your face twice daily, morning and night. But if you have too much oily skin try washing your face three times a day.

2-Go Easy on Makeup

Wearing heavy makeup can cause breakouts! So try keeping makeup light (and less noticeable) during the hot months. Use a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead of foundation. These formulas won’t clog pores and are easy to apply lightly. If you must use powder, go with a translucent one rather than a darker formula; stick with applying just enough to remove shine without adding extra coverage.

2-Serum

You can apply a serum to your skin after cleansing. Light serums help balance your oily complexion. I recommend the Ordinary Niacinamide serum. It controls excess oils and it’s super affordable. After some days of use, I noticed that my acne-prone skin was calmer and smoother. If you have oily skin this one is the best option in summer.

3-Use a Good Moisturizer

A moisturizer will not only keep your face feeling smooth and plump, but it can also minimize your oil production which makes you less shiny. Look for a moisturizer that contains ingredients like green tea, which is said to regulate sebum production.

Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream is my favorite moisturizer because it’s lightweight and infused with superfoods like green tea, spinach, and kale. If you have acne-prone, oily skin, this is the best option.

If your skincare budget allows it, glycolic acid and lactic acid are other types of acids often found in creams meant to treat acne-prone skin; they encourage exfoliation while softening pimples and blackheads. Although there’s no surefire way to get rid of all blackheads overnight, many dermatologists agree that exfoliating regularly can reduce their appearance over time.

However, if your breakouts are worse than usual during the summer months or if they contain cysts, consult a dermatologist before trying any skincare products. They may be able to prescribe you something stronger or recommend another treatment.

4-Use Oil-free Sunscreen

The sun’s rays damage skin, no matter what time of year it is. If you have oily skin, make sure to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily with an SPF of at least 30.

To protect your face from UVA and UVB rays, reapply every two hours after swimming or sweating excessively. Protecting your face from the sun will minimize fine lines and acne scars and prevent any new breakouts from forming.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios tinted fluid is my go-to sunblock. It is easy to apply and doesn’t require any foundation after application. Just add some concealer and translucent powder, and I am ready for the day.

Keep hydrated

When you’re dehydrated, your body will produce more oil to compensate. So drink lots of water throughout your day at least 10 glasses! Also, avoid coffee because it can cause dehydration.

Try replacing coffee with a healthy drink like green tea. Not only does it have antioxidants that fight signs of aging, but it also acts as an anti-inflammatory to help soothe acne.

Wear a hat and sunglasses

Sun exposure is a major cause of sunburn, premature aging, and wrinkles. While you’re trying to keep your skin looking young, go ahead and add hats to your daily outfits. As a bonus, they will keep you fresh in hot weather.

Choose flat-brimmed hats that block UV rays but don’t trap heat around your head or face that will only make you sweat more. Use sunscreen liberally on all exposed areas.

There are many waterproof options designed specifically for swimming, too. Pair it with sunglasses with 100 percent UVA/UVB protection to guard against further damage while outside. Don’t forget your lips protect them with a chapstick containing SPF 15 or higher!

Get a facial treatment

One of my favorite ways to keep my complexion looking fresh and clear year-round is by getting regular facials. It’s a luxury, but it keeps breakouts to a minimum and ensures that I address any issues head-on.

If you can’t afford regular facials, find an aesthetician who offers affordable facial packages or make appointments based on your skin needs (like every three months if you have oily skin). Also important: talk to your aesthetician about setting up a daily skincare regimen at home so you can continue to keep your face clean.

5-Clay Mask

You can also use a clay mask if you have oily skin without acne. A clay mask will control excessive oil on your face while removing all the dirt and grime from your pores. The following post may be helpful to you if you have an oily skin type.
