10 Things To Do When You feeling Like Giving Up

Feeling like you’re on the verge of giving up? It can happen to any of us even to celebrities and sports superstars. But giving up doesn’t get you anywhere, and it doesn’t fix your problems. Learning how to be more positive will help you to overcome when things aren’t looking good.

Here are 10 tips to help you push through and become an inspiration in your own life and in the lives of others around you.

1) Take small steps at a time

If you’re staring down a big, looming project, and your first instinct is to procrastinate or give up, stop for a moment. Take a deep breath. And take small steps at a time. Make progress where you can take small steps every day until that significant milestone is behind you.

Do not let it take over your life, do not let it paralyze you. Use each little victory as motivation for something bigger, and be proud of every step along the way.

2) Ask why?

Whether it’s an important meeting or even a lost game of football, never lose sight of why you are working so hard in the first place.

If something is bringing you down and you are considering giving up, take a step back and ask yourself what matters. It will help you take your mind off whatever is bothering you and put things into perspective.

3) Surround yourself with positive people

Working alone is tough. It’s often lonely, and sometimes we feel stuck without anyone to turn to for help.

That’s why it’s important to make a habit of surrounding yourself with positive people. Positive people are those who give off good vibes, lift you up, and truly want what’s best for you they help you to grow, and they push you to be your best version.

4) Write down your goals/motivations

Over time, your goals and motivations may change. Right now, write down what motivates you. It could be a sense of accomplishment, it could be putting food on your table, or it could be anything else that inspires you and drive you.

When times get tough and all seems lost (which they will), read over these notes and think about why you wanted to achieve these goals in the first place. You might realize something within yourself that helps motivate you even more.

5) Exercise helps

Exercise

Exercise releases endorphins that increase feelings of well-being and has even been shown to increase productivity in people with attention deficit disorder. To achieve maximum efficiency (and take a break from working), consider taking short daily exercise breaks throughout your workday.

For example, get off your chair every 20 minutes or so and walk around for five minutes—even if it means taking a walk around your office building or cubicle farm.

6) Practice gratitude

During rough patches, it’s important to stop and think about what we are grateful for in our lives. Whether it’s your friends, family, or even your career—staying grateful can help us keep things in perspective.

An attitude of gratitude can improve our outlook on life, making us feel more satisfied with what we have as opposed to focusing on what we don’t have. In fact, research shows that expressing gratitude may actually make us happier.

7) Use affirmations

It may sound cheesy, but affirmations can be a great way to fight through feelings of self-doubt. And no, they aren’t just for women who have trouble believing in themselves.

Affirmations are positive thoughts or mantras we repeat to ourselves over and over until they sink into our subconscious and we begin believing them.

A few examples might be: I am strong and capable of anything I put my mind to, or I am incredibly intelligent and full of unique talents.

Find phrases that relate to your goals that motivate you. Tell yourself these new mantras every day (either out loud or in your head) for 30 days straight before moving on to something else.

8) Focus on progress, not perfectionism:

Don’t worry about mistakes. You will know failure. Continue to reach out, find solutions and try again.

Go and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorius and fantastic mistakes.Break rules leave the world more interesting for you being here.

9)Don’t compare yourself to others

As much as we would like to compare ourselves to those who have achieved more, it’s worth remembering that many accomplished professionals failed at first.

If you find yourself feeling down about how far away your dreams seem, remember that other people are likely comparing themselves with you and wishing they were in your shoes.

Remember: Comparison is one of life’s biggest thieves. It can rob us of our joy and keep us from taking action toward our goals. Just because someone else has a different job or family structure than yours doesn’t mean he or she is better off or happier than you are.

10) Have hope

The main reason it’s so easy to give up is that we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves.

If you don’t set goals as difficult as getting into a top university, starting your own business, or becoming president of your country, you won’t be able to achieve them! Instead, concentrate on achieving small goals and remember that no one manages to achieve their ideal life overnight.

What’s most important is that at some point along your journey, you believe in yourself enough to keep moving forward. What’s meant for you will find its way back around. Just keep swimming and have hope.
